J.COSTA REVOLUTION
The revolutionary J.Costa variator permits a considerably faster acceleration at the lower revs regime offering a stronger torque all along the power curve. Its structure is very simple and straightforward, never the less more efficient and with better performance than traditional variators. Starting from a structure similar to traditional ones, the cross-sectional variator has a different external plate, bells and weights.
There are no slides, no rolls.
Differently from the traditional cylindrical rolls, these weights are shaped like capsules. The plate of the pulley has holes inclined toward the outside where the weights are hosted. When the bell rotates the centrifugal force pushes the weights against the plate, therefore changing the diameter of the surface where the belt travels.
The J.Costa Variator empathizes some of the characteristics of the engine permitting a better transfer of power to the wheel, a more progressive acceleration and a better response to the opening and shutting of the throttle. Together with the unique characteristics of the J.Costa variator, the premium quality materials used to build this product, the care and optimization of the production have all contributed to achieve a extremely good level of performance, reliability and value.

This design of variator uses gliding weights, instead of rolling types, which facilitate the variomatic to open linearly, which has proved to be a very simple but effective technological development!
Its linear design is the secret of the 'turbo effect' provided by these pulleys. Compared to original items the J.Costa units offer a shorter transmission ratio at lower revs, which leads to a quicker acceleration.
Simultaneously, when the weights have reached the end of their travel (pulley fully opened), they also possess a taller ratio at higher revs, providing an increase in top speed.
The new PRO speed control series, differs from EVO3 generation by taking a heatsinks within the speed control in a circle provided with projections, between rollers area and bushing area. The rollers cavities are holed for the Press-Depress effect make them to act more quickly and smoothly both at the entrance to a higher gear as the output of a lower gear showing no jumps, ie make the air as fluid dynamic to help the rollers to emerge or be collected faster without increasing fuel consumption.

Also, the movement of the weights is reduced by the protective ceramic coating on the EVO3, preventing excessive wear. The Variomatics cover has also been redesigned to optimise the overall performance potential.

EVO 4 Racer variator is made of CNC machined aluminum with ceramic treatment. It consists of Stainless steel bell, Isolated core of bronze with grafit inserts for lubrication. Weight rollers are made of high-resistant plastic. Also, the bolt has been treated for anti friction.
Compared to the EVO3 model, the EVO 4 has a new bell and weights, delivers better performance and it is designed for those with a sports spirit.
